How about making your very special cards huge!  This card is a 4 x 9 1/4 finished size and I love how these look.  This was for my SIL's birthday (and it was late.....sigh) I used the same design as this card and changed a few elements to make it work for the occasion. 


Wow this picture is crooked!  You'll just have to lean a bit to make it straight!

Ink - Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Pretty in Pink
Etc - corner rounder, 1" circle, 1 3/8 circle, Pretty in Pink satin ribbon, pearls, vanilla brad (retired)
