Stampin Up and Project Life

Stampin Up and Project Life!  A win-win combination!

Butterflies and Roses

Continue the fun!  I used the Karen Burniston's Accordion Circle die again to create a Mother's day card .  This card features the Spiral Rose die - expanded with the blossom punch - and the butterfly from Backyard Basics on the front.  The piece underneath the rose is from Daydream Medallions.  It looks so pretty on the Happy Watercolor paper.  The instructions for the spiral rose can be found here.

This is the card opened - The center sentiment is from Lots of Thanks - a great sentiment for my mom!  I continued with Daydream Medallions and butterflies.  To finish the card I covered the back with more Happy Watercolor DSP and put 2 butterflies so that the wings from the front are covered.

Stamp Sets - Backyard Basics, Lots of Thanks, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock - Smokey Slate, Whisper White, Happy Watercolor DSP
Ink - Smokey Slate, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe
Etc - Karen Burniston Circle Accordion die and edges, Backyard Basics framelits, Spiral rose die, Blossom Punch, Daydream Medallion framelit

Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe and Smokey Slate is a great color combo!  Hugs, Fran

Two by Two

The Pop It Ups Challenge for April is Mamas and Babies!  For the "babies" part, I made a Circle Accordion card using the My Digital Studio image Two by Two.  I used my Sizzix Eclips to print and cut the image on Whisper White cardstock.  Then I colored it. (You could also color it in MDS then cut it out)

Here it is opened.  The sentiment is from Cuddles and Kisses and the paper is a retired Sale a bration DSP.  I added some little pre-made bows to the front and inside.  For the clouds in the sky, I die cut clouds from the Pop it u\Ups Garden bench and used them as masks and then air brushed the circle.  It would have been just as easy to adhere them to the sky but I wanted to try this technique

Stamp Sets - Two By Two (MDS), Cuddles and Kisses
Cardstock - So Saffron, Whisper White, retired DSP
Ink - Bashful Blue
Etc - Circle Accordion Pop it Ups with Square with Circle edges, My Digital Studio, bows

I love making these accordion cards - and MDS has so many ways to expand my papercrafting - it's a win-win!  Hugs, Fran

Just a Note

From a million layers yesterday to a "flat" card today!  This note card uses the lovely background set Swallowtail.  The great thing about this stamp is that it stands alone - background and focal image!.

Stamp Sets - Swallowtail, Four You
Cardstock - Basic Gray, Pink Piourette, Whisper White
Ink - Smokey Slate, Jet Black Stazon
Etc - Subtle Candy Dots, Dazzling Details

I couldn't help adding a little bit of Dazzling Details to the butterfly!  We all need a little sparkle in our lives  Hugs, Fran

So What Got You Started

Stamping?  Did you go to a workshop or party?  Try it on your own?  I saw some cute images in a store one day and decided to give it a try.  My first images were a cute hedgehog from Penny Black and some little kiddos from Me & My Big Ideas.  I still have them.  They led me to want to find out more about this art - and here I am.  So since today is my birthday, I decided to pull out some of these very old images and make something new.

An odd color combo on the front - Wisteria Wonder, Real Red and Basic Black.  The sentiment from Remembering Your Birthday was the perfect font and saying for this card.
On the inside I used Karen Burniston's Lot's of Pops die and the cute little triangle punch from the Occasions mini.

So now it's your turn!  What got you started stamping?  Hugs, Fran

Working With Sentiments

There are lots of wonderful phrases and sentiments in the catalog, but sometimes they don't fit on your card (or tag!)  The sentiment here is from Cycle Celebrations and is one, long phrase.  I needed something more "squat" to fit my tag - so I broke this one down and made it fit.  To do this, I started with a 2 x 5 piece of Whisper White and grabbed my Stamp-a-ma-jig.  Starting at the bottom, I masked off all the words except "to You", lined it up and stamped it.  I cleaned the stamped and masked off everything except "Birthday", lined it up and stamped it.  Then I repeated the procedure with "Happy."  Once my sentiment was stamped, I stamped the image above it.  Then I trimmed the paper and punched the top with the Scallop Tag Topper.  Sounds like a lot of work - but it goes quickly and now I have a cute tag for my package.

Stamp Set - Cycle Celebration
Cardstock - Whisper White
Ink - Jet Black Stazon, Strawberry Sluch
Etc - Stamp-a-ma-jig, Strawberry Slush ribbon, Scallop Tag Topper, Dazzling Details

Practicing on grid paper.  You will no longer be limited to the length of you stamps.   Hugs, Fran

Anniversary Sailor

I cased this layout from one that was on a Leadership display board.  I changed some of the colors/cardstock - but kept the layout the same.  This uses the very fun stamp set Hello Sailor and the Hardwood background stamp - both from the current Occasions Mini.  I've decided that this background stamp can be used for anything!  *Here's a tip for lining up banners under the circle image.  Put Dimensionals on the back of the circle but only remove the backing from the top one.  Stick it down - place the banners underneath and then remove the backings from the rest of the Dimensionals.

Stamp Sets - Hello Sailor, Hardwood
Cardstock - Basic Gray, Smokey Slate, Pacific Point, Whisper White
Ink - Basic Gray, Calypso Corsl
Etc - Banner Framelits, Starburst Framelits, 2 1/2 circle punch, small star punch

On the inside I stamped the "Perfect North" image.  It can be used for an anniversary, best friend,  co-worker - lots of people   Hugs, Fran
